The Battery Competence Cluster - NL (BCC-NL) is the leading public-private collaboration platform in the Netherlands dedicated to strengthening the national and European battery ecosystem. We unite companies, knowledge institutes, and governments to accelerate innovation in battery technology and applications.

Core Role

As an Innovation Architect, you will shape the substantive direction of innovation within BCC-NL. You are the technical architect across multiple thematic domains (such as automotive including Heavy-Duty Mobility, non-EV applications like aviation, maritime, off-highway vehicles, etc., Sustainable Energy Systems & Technologies, battery recycling & second life, and Sustainable battery Materials), ensuring strategic coherence and cross-domain integration. You work closely with ecosystem stakeholders (industry, research institutions, public entities) and form part of the Strategy & Roadmap Team. Your work is international in scope, engaging with global innovation networks and trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide content development of thematic roadmaps and innovation agendas
  • Translate trends, tech developments, and data intelligence into strategic directions
  • Safeguard technical consistency and identify synergies across domains
  • Engage with companies, research institutes, and public bodies to co-create innovation strategies
  • Organize expert groups and advisory panels for input and validation
  • Advise on project prioritization, phasing, and technical feasibility
  • Drive knowledge sharing among stakeholders
  • Support in shaping grant applications, policy advice, and reporting

Profile & Competences

  • Academic background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, embedded systems, or related fields
  • Strong affinity for hardware-software integration
  • Preferred experience with battery packs design, thermal management, BMS, production technologies, and manufacturing equipment
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills; adept at bridging technology and policy
  • Experience with public-private innovation environments and ecosystem dynamics
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong asset
