The Role
At the relatively young Battery Competence Cluster The Netherlands Foundation (BCC-NL), an exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Business Controller. In this role, you will have broad responsibilities and will advise the Director on both financial and non-financial strategic matters. Your insights and recommendations will support well-informed decision-making and contribute to the organisation’s growth ambitions and long-term continuity.
BCC-NL is a socially engaged organisation operating within the public–private domain, collaborating with government bodies, knowledge institutes, industry partners and trade associations. You will work within a compact and dynamic team of currently 12 colleagues. The team delivers the activities of the programme office for the National Growth Fund programme Material Independence & Circular Batteries (MICB). Within the team, you act as a central linking pin, providing concrete management information, maintaining a reliable financial administration, and serving as the financial conscience of the organisation.
What will you do?
As a Business Controller, your tasks include:
- Contributing to strategic thinking and translating strategy into a multi-year plan, budget and additional subsidy applications;
- Being responsible for preparing planning & control documents and initiating process improvements where necessary;
- Preparing annual and quarterly reports for management, the board and funding bodies, analysing these and proposing adjustments to the budget plan;
- Acting as the primary point of contact for the external auditor in relation to the annual audit and subsidy accountability.
Who are you?
You can easily switch between figures, people and processes. You work independently while actively seeking collaboration, and you feel at home in an environment where growth is a key priority.
What we are also looking for:
- At least a completed HBO+ or university degree in finance, business economics or a related field;
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Business Controller or in a comparable financial role;
- Affinity with working in a project-based environment, preferably involving subsidy-funded projects;
- A proactive and forward-thinking mindset, strong analytical skills, resilience and initiative;
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Additional advantages: good command of the English language, experience with Exact Online for reporting and financial overviews, and affinity with technology and innovation.
What do we offer?
You will join an informal working environment with a high degree of autonomy and ample room for personal initiative.
In addition, we offer:
- An employment contract of 20 hours per week based on a one-year temporary contract, with the prospect of a permanent position;
- Expansion of working hours is negotiable as the foundation grows;
- For a full-time position, entitlement to 10 additional leave days on top of the statutory 20 days;
- A healthy work–life balance with flexible working hours and hybrid working options;
- A laptop and mobile phone;
- An onboarding programme at the start of your role.
