From 17–19 November 2025, Battery Competence Cluster NL (BCC-NL) participated in the Quebec Mines & Energy event, a key platform for the mining and energy sectors in Canada. The visit was initiated at the request of the Dutch Ministries of Infrastructure & Water Management (IenW) and Economic Affairs (EZ), following a signed agreement earlier this year.

Purpose of the Visit
The main goal was to explore opportunities for collaboration between Quebec and the Netherlands in the field of circular economy and battery value chains. This included engaging with Quebec’s industry leaders, government representatives, and the Dutch Consulate in Vancouver.

Key Highlights & Outcomes

  • Quebec is actively seeking partnerships with Europe for strategic reasons and aligns its circular economy legislation with EU regulations.
  • ESG principles are central to Quebec’s projects, and the region boasts abundant natural resources for battery materials.
  • Quebec aims to establish a complete battery value chain, from mining to cell production and recycling, supported by green energy and low CAPEX conditions.

This visit reinforced the importance of international collaboration in securing sustainable and resilient supply chains for the energy transition. Follow-up actions will focus on deepening partnerships and exploring joint programs between BCC-NL and BCC-Quebec.
