Holland High Tech

Holland High Tech is the sector for High Tech Systems and Materials. Businesses, knowledge institutions and government authorities collaborate intensively in innovation-focused public-private partnerships within our ecosystem. That ecosystem consists of 89,000 companies employing more than 500,000 professionals, together representing 165 billion euros in production value and over 70 billion euros in export value. Across eleven innovation domains, expert teams develop (key) technologies that provide structural solutions to urgent transitions such as the energy transition and the shift to a circular economy.

Batteries are a key priority. Energy storage is crucial for integrating renewable energy, stabilising the grid and electrifying transport. In the Energy Materials innovation domain we work with our strong chemical industry and machine builders to drive the development of circular battery materials and reduce dependence on critical raw materials. Through the strategic programme Battery Integration (with TU Delft, Eindhoven University of Technology, University of Twente and TNO) we address the entire life cycle: innovative battery designs, intelligent applications, safety, and second life and recycling.

This autumn, the SME Hightech call 2026 will also open, with Energy Materials among the domains eligible for submissions. In this way, Holland High Tech is helping the Netherlands become a global leader in battery technology.
