Ministry of Infrastructure & Water Management
The section Waste Management Department (WMD) of the government agency 'Rijkswaterstaat' is an assignment of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and also works for the Ministry of Climate and Green Growth.
One of the tasks of the WMD is to execute the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in the Netherlands. Goal is to make product chains more circular. In a circular economy, raw materials and products remain in use for as long as possible. Products are reused, repaired, refurbished or recycled where possible. EPR is one of the legal instruments that contribute. EPR gives producers the responsibility for financing and organising the waste management of their products. EPR leads to more and better waste collection and waste treatment. Most EPR obligations derive from EU legislation.

- Single use plastics
- Consumer matrasses
- Sheet glass
- Paper & cardboard (non packaging)
