VDL is an experienced partner in battery technology with a broad network of companies active throughout the battery value chain. Next to the direct application of battery technology in electric buses and sustainable mobility solutions, VDL acts as a one-stop-shop for external customers. Its capabilities cover the complete lifecycle of battery systems, including concept development, design, engineering, prototyping, industrialization, series production, testing, certification, and system integration.
VDL assembles battery modules and packs, develops battery management systems (BMS), and designs and builds high-tech manufacturing equipment for pilot lines as well as high-volume battery production facilities. Including advanced battery systems and power solutions for unmanned aerial systems (UAS), drones, autonomous ground vehicles, and other mobile platforms for duel-use applications.
Beyond mobility, VDL develops and industrializes Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for commercial, industrial, utility-scale, and off-grid applications. These solutions support renewable energy integration, grid balancing, peak shaving, backup power, EV charging infrastructure, and grid congestion mitigation.
This integrated approach enables VDL to support customers from initial concept and prototyping through qualification, series production, and lifecycle support.
